AS lighting practise task

  • Wen using the cameras in AF (auto focus) they will adjust to the changing light - sometimes causing grainy shots
  • Use the aperture settings to let more or less light in
  • Think about the time of day you shoot: golden hours
  • Big changes in natural lighting can impact continuity
  • Time of day you wish to depict
  • Lack of consideration of lighting can make your adverts appear a bit unrealistic

Chiaroscuro lighting

Chiaroscuro lighting is characterised by harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between different areas of the shot, such as a characters face , can be used with colour, but also can be used in black and white for a different feel. Common  in horrors, dramas and any other type of film where the atmosphere of the scene plays a vital role.

High key lighting

high key lighting uses harsh, bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, giving the scene a white-washed, clean look that does not have any shadow inframe.

Lowkey lighting

lowkey lighting is all about creating shadows and contrast between colours. It is used to create atmosphere. whereas HK lighting is all about airy and light. LK is about mystery and drama. Often used in thrillers, horrors or romantic imagery.

Backlighting

Backlighting is when the scene is lit differently from behind, usually by some form of natural light, where it used to create a silhouette. Can be used for a variety of effects but is most common in romantic films.

Natural lighting

natural lighting can either be, as the name suggests, natural light coming from the sun, but it can also refer to a light source that has a light yellow or white hue (shade). Used in combination with order lighting effects (3-point fill)

Artificial lighting

Artificial lighting is light that comes from obviously, intentionally man-made light sources, such as light bulbs or fluorescent lights. Artificial lights often have a blue -grey hue, or a harsh yellow-oprange hue. Used in combination with other lighting effects (3-point fill)

My starting idea for my reality Tv advert

Initial idea
Behind the scenes - secret life of triplets
Arguing, diary room, parties, ranting, mixed emotions but then them having eachothers back and caring about eachother lowkey even though they come accross asif they "hate eachother".

Inspiration
Keeping up with the kardashians - all difrferent personalities

Character descriptions

All three characters have very different personalities which makes them relatable to different audiences.

Caitlin, is the most straight forward character out of the three, this can make it challenging for the other characters to get along with her as the other sister would be more sensitive and will have a hard time understanding what her intentions are. However the perks of her straight forward personality is she is seen as honest and quite down to earth, She is also quite a confident character

Beth, is the kind hearted character which can also come across as a weakness and more like a push over, she has big aspirations and wants to go far in life, she cant wait to get away from her limiting life in chesterfield and she strives for bigger things. She is more of the mature character but also has a short temper and a stuck up character

Taela, very sociable character and loves going out, she is quite a humorous character but a bit dopey at times and always loves a good gossip,
